2025 DBIA NW Regional Conference

HKP's team traveled to Spokane, WA for the sixth annual DBIA NW Regional Conference! The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) started in 1993, with the Northwest Region chartering 2002. DBIA highlights an alternate form of project delivery that is collaborative and integrated in a foundation of trust, respect, teamwork, innovation, and creative problem solving.

This year's conference brought together design-build practitioners, contractors, and industry partners across the region for a series of expert-led sessions focused on progressive delivery methods and strategies. A focus on inclusion and diversity opened networking opportunities and showcased the association’s commitment to care for small firms and businesses. There were featured exhibitions for the latest tools and services for support design-build delivery, as well as informational booths on resources.

Our team left full of fresh ideas and strengthened connections, here's what they had to say:

I loved the focus on Underutilized Business Entities (UBE’s) and the DEI moments. It left me feeling that DBIA NW and National really do care about expanding inclusion into the Alternative Delivery world, and it made it easier to network with General Contractors and Owners in that same vein. The conference is a welcoming place to learn, grow, and make valuable connections in our industry.

It was a really awesome opportunity to be exposed to all the great things that are happening in the world of Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build here in the North-West Region. Kudos to the region and the industry partners for continuing to push the envelope in all aspects of Alternative Delivery! Being a part of a UBE architectural firm, I’m really excited to grow the connections we made and leverage more Underutilized Business Entity engagement as we all pursue future endeavors.

I appreciated the opportunity to participate in the DBIA Northwest Regional Conference. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and build new relationships with Architects, Contractors, Trade Partners, and Owners. I particularly enjoyed the variety of seminars, especially those where the teams shared their challenges and how the team collectively resolved them. I look forward to developing the new connections made and applying the shared knowledge to future alternative delivery projects
