Let’s look back at some of our favorite highlights of 2019 and what the HKP team is looking forward to in the new year.
The Henry Klein Homes exhibit
A very special project for all of us is the Henry Klein Homes exhibit. The exhibit opened in November, highlighting our founder Henry Klein and showcasing what is unique about the homes he designed.
Children’s Museum of Skagit County Phase I + II Grand Opening
HKP celebrated the grand opening of the Children’s Museum of Skagit County’s new home in a local outlet mall. Our design strategy involved phasing the project to mitigate impacts to the Museum’s operation and its many members. The museum now has 15,400 square feet of exhibit space, a larger museum store, art room, reading area, kitchen, breast-feeding and pumping room, family restroom, conference room and community meeting space. Swinomish Indian Tribal Community Dental Clinic Grand Opening and Blessing
HKP Architects is honored to have been part of the team that made this project come to life, which will provide the first Dental Health Aid Therapist (DHAT) training in the lower 48 states. Learn more about this project here: Dental Clinic Expansion
A Growing Team
Seeing our team flourish and grow is always exciting to witness. In 2019, we celebrated Christine Baldwin, an instrumental team member since 2014, earning her professional license and her promotion to Project Architect!
We also welcomed new hire, Spencer Olsufka, as a Project Manager. We appreciate that he brings to our team a wide variety of detailing and construction experience and a strong interest in sustainable design and healthy materials.
Sustainability and Transparency Programs initiated
Project Managers McKenna Klein and Spencer Olsufka are leading our new sustainability and transparency programs.
HKP Partners Earned New Certifications
We celebrated HKP Partner, Brian Poppe, completing Design-Build Certification Training and HKP Partner, Julie Blazek, receiving Passive House Certification!
Exciting European Travels
Both firm partners headed to Europe for much needed rest and relaxation. Read about Brian’s trip to Italy and Julie’s trip to Scotland, England and France.
AIA Northwest Washington Design Awards
We were honored to have our Twin Lakes Landing affordable housing project win a Citation award at the 2019 AIA Northwest Washington Design Awards!
With so many wonderful happenings in 2019, we are looking forward to what is already shaping up to be an exciting 2020. This first year of a new decade will be one of continued development and growth of our team. We continue focusing on our commitment to working on projects that positively impact people’s lives.
